In the world of superheroes and their adversaries, few characters stand as iconic as Superman and his arch-nemesis, Lex Luthor. However, Tim Daly, who voiced Kal-El in Bruce Timm’s Superman: The Animated Series has shared a special affinity for another DC supervillain, who is often described as an anti-hero and a dark reflection of the Kryptonian superhero, Bizarro.

He has made recurring appearances in the DC Animated Universe and has been voiced by numerous actors over the years. Daly also gave his voice to the character in The Animated Series, which offered him an insight into the character. The 67-year-old actor expressed empathy towards the villain, as he fondly recalled his time portraying the complex character.
Tim Daly Shared His Experience Working With Bizarro
Introduced in Superboy #68, Bizarro has been frequently seen as an antagonist clashing with Superman and has taken on the role of an anti-hero as well. Over the years, the character has made several appearances in the live-action and animated shows.

Tim Daly and George Newbern are some of the actors who have voiced both Superman and Bizarro. When Daly was asked about his experience working with both the characters with contrasting yet compelling dynamics, he said, “I really liked doing Bizarro.”
The Madam Secretary actor shared that he enjoyed delving into the darker aspects of humanity through the character. And despite Bizarro being a villain, Daly empathized with him, arguing that he was not inherently evil. He told ComicBookMovie
“I had a great deal of empathy for him because he is sort of misguided, misunderstood, and used. He wasn’t innately evil I don’t think. He was just manipulated in a way that made him seem so.”

He also appreciated the opportunity to explore Bizarro’s contrasting nature, offering a departure from Superman’s traditional heroism. Ultimately, he concluded that he “had a good time” working with the character.
Tim Daly Reflected on Working With Kevin Conroy
Both Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly have become synonyms with Batman and Superman and fans have loved their take on the iconic DC characters. In a recent interview, Daly was asked if he and Conroy ever shared a booth while recording.

“Yes, we did,” he said, before further stating that he really enjoyed working with the late actor. “It was really fun,” he told CinemaBlend during the interview. The Outsider actor also recounted the enjoyable dynamic between Superman and Batman, saying,
“I sort of loved that Superman, in a very dry way, kind of gave Batman a lot of shit. It was really funny to me. It was like, ‘Dude, lighten up.’ I can’t remember the line exactly, but he busted Batman on that very thing, his darkness and demeanor about everything.”
While Daly’s Superman and Conroy’s Batman initially clashed due to their contrasting personalities, they eventually resolved their differences and joined forces to confront their enemy with their formidable teamwork. The DC superheroes have frequently partnered up in the DC Animated Universe.
Superman: The Animated Series is available to stream on Max.
