The Upcoming Documentary to Honor the Home Alone Star

Colin Hanks, son of the Hollywood star Tom Hanks is directing a documentary about the late actor with producer Glen Zipper. Speaking to Deadline at the Cannes Film Festival, Zipper emphasized how Candy’s on-screen presence has been a guaranteed mood-booster.

You can’t think of a film of John Candy’s — if you turned it on the day where you were in a bad mood and you gave him 90 minutes of your life — there’s no way you don’t come out the other side feeling better.

The producers shared that they wish to have the same effect, leaving viewers feeling uplifted, just like they would after watching one of Candy’s films. He further stated,

And so the documentary’s going to have to do the same thing. And that’s Colin’s vision… He wants the John Candy documentary to leave you with the same sort of feeling you would have seeing a John Candy scripted film.

Along with Zipper, Ryan Reynolds’ production company Maximum Effort is also involved with the production. The documentary has reportedly also received the support of the Home Alone star’s family.

Home Alone is available to stream on Disney+.
