Taylor Swift has set yet another milestone with her monumental win at the 2024 MTV VMAs, the event where Kanye West notoriously interrupted her acceptance speech for Best Female Video, insisting that Beyoncé was more deserving, in 2009.

But time has a way of changing things and people. Over a decade later, as the Runaway rapper attempts to recover from a series of career-damaging decisions, Swift has triumphed, becoming the most-awarded solo artist in VMA history.
Taylor Swift Solidifies Her Legacy with Record-Breaking Win at 2024 MTV VMAs
Taylor Swift recorded a historic win at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, setting a record with 30 “Moon Man” trophies, tying Beyoncé as the top winner in the show’s history.

She also surpassed Beyoncé as a solo artist by winning her 30th VMA. While Beyoncé also has a total of 30 awards, the figure includes collaborations with Destiny’s Child and Jay-Z as The Carters, with 26 of those awards being solo achievements.
Swift also made history by becoming the first artist to win the Video of the Year award five times, with her latest win for Fortnight from The Tortured Poets Department. The singer also became the only artist to win Video of the Year three years in a row.
In her acceptance speech, she shared her gratitude for everyone involved in the making of the music video and gave a special shout-out to her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, for his constant support.

“I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot because I will always remember that,” she said, as per Variety. The Fortnight singer also expressed gratitude to her fans for their unwavering support.
Leading the MTV VMAs with 12 nominations, including Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year, Swift won several major awards, including Song of the Summer, and Video of the Year for Fortnight.

“Love this for her,” one fan shared on X (Twitter), capturing the joyous sentiment of many. Others also reflected on Swift’s journey, reminiscing about the infamous 2009 MTV VMAs incident when Kanye West interrupted her acceptance speech for Best Female Video.
The rapper jumped on the stage amid her acceptance speech, arguing that although she won the award, Beyonce’s Single Ladies was much more deserving.
“Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!”

It has since become one of the wildest moments in MTV VMA history. However, with her record-breaking win, fans have seen it as a powerful comeback, with some commenting, “This is what real revenge looks like.”
While Swift has achieved record-breaking success, Kanye West released Vultures 2 featuring Ty Dolla $ign from his Vultures trilogy last month. The album debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
