Based on the best-selling book series by Captain Underpants author, Dav Pilkey, Universal has released the first official trailer for the upcoming animated film Dog Man.
With the release of the trailer, the studio has also revealed the official voice cast of the film, which includes, Pete Davidson as Petey the Cat, Dog Man’s archenemy.
Davidson is joined by a talented lineup including Isla Fisher, Poppy Liu, Stephen Root, Billy Boyd, and Ricky Gervais. Following several rumors, fans were pleasantly surprised by Davidson’s casting.
The film’s plot centers on Dog Man, a half-canine, half-human crime fighter created from the life-saving surgery of a police officer and his loyal dog.
As Dog Man navigates his new role, he strives to protect and serve while trying to impress his police chief and thwart the villainous Petey the Cat. However, the dynamic between the two adversaries takes an unexpected turn with the arrival of Little Petey, leading to an unlikely alliance.

Sharing their reaction to the film’s trailer, one fan said, “The Pete Davidson rumors were true.” Some also reflected on how the design and Davidson’s voice fit perfectly the character.
Others shared that they believed he would be voicing the titular character. “Man, I thought he gonna voice Dog Man,” one fan shared on X (Twitter). However, similar to comics Dog Man will reportedly not talk in the movie.
Directed by Peter Hastings, the upcoming animated film marks another venture into animation for the Meet Cute star. Davidson has previously voiced several animated characters, both in film and television.
In addition to a brief role in The Angry Birds Movie 2, Pete Davidson voiced the titular character in the 2022 animated comedy Marmaduke. Some of his standout work in animation includes leading the adult animated sitcom The Freak Brothers.
Davidson has also lent his voice to characters in popular shows like American Dad! and Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as well as voicing Mirage in the 2023 film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. With his role in Dog Man, Davidson is adding another animated character to his growing list, and fans are eagerly anticipating the film’s release.
