Stranger Things Inspired Madelyn Cline to Chase Her Acting Dreams
After starting out as a model, Madelyn Cline was soon landing small roles in movies and shows. However, it was shows like Stranger Things and The Originals that truly solidified her passion for acting.
In Stranger Things, Cline played Tina, a schoolgirl who hosts a Halloween bash in Season 2. She portrayed Jessica, a witch selected by Elijah Mikaelson to be a Harvest girl during a ritual aimed at connecting with the Ancestors in three episodes of Season 4 of The Originals.
The actress later reflected on how balancing her college classes with filming for Stranger Things and The Originals made her realize her desire to pursue acting full-time, prompting her move to Los Angeles.
She told Schön! in an interview,
I was in college driving back and forth from Myrtle Beach to Atlanta to work on The Originals and Stranger Things, and I realized that something had to give — I wanted to at least try to pursue it full-time. So, I ended up dropping out, packing my car up, and leaving for LA.
While her experiences on popular shows like Stranger Things and The Originals inspired her to follow her dreams, it was her role as Sarah Cameron in the Netflix series Outer Banks that truly marked her breakout performance.
Cline has since landed several opportunities in movies like This Is the Night and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and is set to reprise her breakout role in the upcoming Season 4 – Part 2 of Outer Banks. She is also set to star in Sony Pictures’ reboot of the 1997 horror classic I Know What You Did Last Summer.
